Quote from Abby Pridmore- Lancaster University Netball Coach: “The girls have worked incredibly hard in the preparation and run up to Roses, team training six times a week as well as individual gym sessions. Each game told a very different tale with some very close fought out games. First and thirds remained triumphant in their games dominating the court, however seconds were unable to settle after a devastating injury in the first quarter. York gained a few goals in those vital unsettled minutes which Lancaster were unable to recover”. |
Lancaster 3rds took control of the game from the first few minutes and lead throughout, dominating possession and over ruling York in all units of the court. Outstanding shooting stats must be highlighted for Claire Turner who dominated the attacking circle.
Lancaster 2nds experienced an unsettled game after losing key defender Alice Round in the first few minutes. York managed to secure a few goals in those vital minutes whilst Lancaster settle in the restructure in the defence. Despite tireless efforts by Lancaster to attempt to combat the early goal difference, getting a close as within three goals, they were unable to catch up. The final score ended 40-33 to York.

The full game consisted of goal for goal action, but it was Lancaster that dug in their heels and managed to get the edge in the final two minutes with a four goal lead. There were some fantastic interceptions from defenders Jasmine Oakes and Sam Longson at pivotal moments in the game which helped drive the team forwards in the final minutes to secure the win.
