On Monday 3rd August until Wednesday 5th August an England Netball U11 youth camp took place in Blackburn, Lancashire. Ten young girls turned up from all over Lancashire and one of which was from Ely, Cambridgeshire and was staying with her grandparents to attend the camp.
The girls were fabulous and their efforts were 100% across all three days. On the first day England Netball and Manchester Thunder star Laura Malcolm attended to meet the girls, answer some questions and deliver a defensive session to the girls.
As well as meeting Laura on the first day, the girls did lots of fun games and activities to get to know each other and also took part in a ball skills session before playing lots of netball towards the end of the day. On the lunch break of the first day the girls took part in a design the trainer competition too.
On the second day the girls did lots of games and activities in the morning as well as taking part in an attacking session. At lunch time the girls were put into two teams ready for the world cup competition on the final day and were able to start practicing their dances/anthems. In the afternoon of the second day the girls took part in individual challenges with the chance to be awarded points for their world cup teams.

After the agility session and a break the group took part in some shooting skills, drills and games.
In the afternoon of the final day the world cup games took place and parents came to spectate. The atmosphere was great but at the end of the games it was still a draw, so we decided to get the parents involved on a shoot out competition to decide the winners! The parents were very nervous but did great and the overall winners of the competition were ENGLAND!
Myself and Jenny would like to thank all the girls who took part in the camp and the parents for their support. We had a great 3 days and hopefully looking forward to seeing you all again at future camps!
